Class - Intro to Tac-Med
Class will run approximately 6-8 hours
Topics Covered
Intro to Tactical Medic is a 4 hour class that combines Get off the X, Live Fire Drills and Advanced Stop the Bleed techniques.
Class will have a maximum of 10 students
Prerequisites
The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load, fire, and unload a handgun as well as have demonstrated competence in working from a holster and performing reloads.
Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.
Stop the Bleed or basic bleeding control class preferred
Course Outline
· Maintaining the combat mindset
· Basic anatomy and physiology of life-sustaining systems
· HABCs – hemorrhage, airway, breathing, and circulation
· Individual Med Kits (IMK): what you need and how to use it
· Bring your kit for an eval
· Basic first aid and advanced wound care, including use of tourniquets
· Recognition and treatment of injuries
· Response to an active shooter situation
· Proper use of cover vs. concealment
· Recovery of a casualty during active shooter situations
Required Equipment
· Quality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols only.
· No micro pistols or pocket pistols to include: P238, P938, P365, M&P Shield, Glock 43, etc.
· 3 magazines minimum
· Optional, loading devices
· A holster and magazine pouch that will retain your equipment when moving
· Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide
· Notepad with pen/pencil/Sharpie
· IFAK or Med Kit
· Clothing suited to strenuous activity and seasonally appropriate
· Footwear suited for rapid movement and turning
· Earmuffs (electronic preferred)
· Wraparound eye-wear
· Hat with brim
· Gloves, knee and elbow pads (optional)
· An open mind
